GENERAL RULES:

  1. Participants are not allowed to identify their school name. Participants cannot wear any pins, clothing or markers of their home school. Please do not have any school branding on your final presentations. Any branding on presentations or clothing will result in automatic disqualification.
  2. Teams must participate in both Friday and Saturday events.
  3. All teams must register by October 31st and pay no later than 11:59 PM on November 2nd, 2018.
  4. All teams must be at the Ron Joyce Centre in Burlington, Ontario by 9:00 AM on Friday, November 9th and Saturday, November 10th. Shuttle buses from the Waterfront Hotel will be available.
  5. Laptops will NOT be provided, please bring your own and ensure it connects to the internet at Ron Joyce Centre on Friday. IT support will not be available on Saturday.
  6. Participants will have access to the Internet during the case, but may NOT contact any outside sources or contacts during the allotted case time.
  7. Participants will be given 5 and 2 minute warnings for every presentation.

ELIGIBILITY:

  1. All participants MUST be registered in an MBA program.
  2. Only ONE team per school will be accepted for the 2018 DeGroote Case Competition.
  3. If an alternate is sent on behalf of a registered team member, the alternate must also be registered in the school’s MBA program. Only four team members may attend the 2018 DCC.
  4. The alternate may only replace a team member under extenuating circumstances. Teams must inform the DeGroote Case Competition Executive Team by Friday, November 9th at 8:00 AM if there are any changes to the team.

CASE SPECIFIC RULES:

All cases and challenges have monetary prizes associated with them.

VIDEO CASE (PRE-EVENT): “What will retail banking look like in 2040?”

  1. Team members must generate idea without outside expertise
  2. Video must be submitted to our dropbox by Thursday November 8th, 2018 at 11:59pm
  3. Video must be 3 mins or less in length
  4. Production of the video itself can be outsourced but once again, the content must come from the team members

UNIQUE CASE (FRIDAY EVENT):

  1. The Unique Case will be unpublished and untested to the best of the Organizer’s knowledge.
  2. Teams will be provided 90 minutes to read and prepare a 10-minute presentation followed by a 5 minute Q&A from judges.
  3. Participants are only allowed to work within their new assigned teams.
  4. Teams must hand in their USB with their presentations to the designated volunteer by the time defined in their competition packages.
  5. Each final presentation will be 10 minutes in length followed by a 10 minute Q&A from final judges.

TRADITIONAL CASE (SATURDAY EVENT):

  1. The Traditional Case will be unpublished and untested to the best of the Organizer’s knowledge.
  2. Teams will have 3 hours to read and analyze the Traditional Case.
  3. Teams must hand in their USB with their presentations to the designated volunteer by the time defined in their competition packages.
  4. The Traditional Case will require teams to prepare a 15 minute presentation followed by a 5 minute Q&A period by the judges.
  5. The top 3 teams will participate in the final case presentation. Each final presentation will be 15 minutes in length followed by a 10 minute Q&A from final judges.
